Alumni Coordinator

Oversee strategic efforts of the Information Systems Department (ISD) at BYU Marriott School of Business to strengthen and create mutually beneficial lifetime relations between alumni, faculty, and current students. This position is pivotal to extending the Information Systems (IS) experience beyond graduation, connecting the ISD and BYU Marriott with alumni and deepening their engagement with and commitment to IS programs, the department, and the college. This position will also help the ISD improve its diversity and inclusion efforts.

 

What you’ll do in this position: 

  • Lead Alumni outreach efforts by managing and maintaining alumni database, planning and organizing alumni events, and communicating important news and achievements to alumni and all stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with student clubs to promote student and alumni involvement as well as present at student orientations and other events as it pertains to alumni initiatives.
  • Help recruit students from under-represented groups, and work with current students to encourage positive ways to give back in the future.
  • Advise faculty about alumni who may be a good fit for panel discussions or speeches, while also acting as a liaison between students and alumni for mentoring opportunities.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive fundraising strategy for the department.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with Information Systems Advisory Board (ISAB) members to enhance recruiting, internships, and career placement while working to effectively engage and increase alumni participation and commitment to the IS programs and BYU Marriott.

 

What qualifies you for this role:

Required

  • A firm commitment to the mission of BYU 
  • Associate’s degree with 4 years’ experience in project management, customer relation management, public relations, or a comparable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a tech related field or 5+ years of work experience as listed above.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office,  including Microsoft Excel
  • Detail oriented and organized

Abilities

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including ability to speak and write clearly and persuasively to groups of alumni, advisory board members and relevant stakeholders
  • Flexible, adaptable, and self-motivated
  • Able to adapt quickly to emerging technology
  • Effective liaison experience and diplomacy skills
  • Facilitate and collaborate with a variety of stakeholders
