What You’ll be Doing

You’ll join our Data and Reporting team reporting into the Executive Director, Data Governance. As an Analyst of Data Governance, you will support the evolution and execution of Canadian Banking’s (CB) Data Governance program. Your focus will be on contributing to the development of the Data Governance program, documenting the CB implementation, preparing materials for the Data Governance Council and supporting data governance stakeholders with a direct impact on the governance and quality of data within CB.

You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote. How you’ll succeed

  • Process Enhancement & Documentation: Set up and maintain CB data governance artifact central repository, ensuring proper access controls. Maintain artifacts, including but not limited to, an inventory of applications, data governance roles, Data Governance Council materials, Data Custody Agreements (DCA), Data Sharing Risk Assessments (DSRA), Deviations & Deficiencies tracking, escalations, data dictionaries. Suggest improvements in procedural and administrative activities for the CB Data Governance function. Assist with the remediation of data governance deficiencies across CB
  • Reporting & Preparation of Materials: Provide and/or contribute to data governance reporting, as required, by assembling and consolidating quality reports and other status updates. Update and maintain existing data governance process documents, diagrams and procedures including development and maintenance of data governance templates. Assist in the development and distribution of communication materials, including but not restricted to, letters, briefs, reports, emails, meeting minutes.
  • Communication & Tracking: Respond to requests for information; prioritizing requests, tracking progress, coordinating and communicating status with the requestor. Over time, take advantage of opportunities to manage small initiatives within the Data Governance team. Contribute to successful completion of data governance project deliverables. Participate in project and team meetings, interact and collaborate with team members and other departments as appropriate. Contribute to CB Data Governance Council meetings including tracking attendance, maintaining voting records, preparing minutes for distribution, archiving materials and maintaining access controls.

  • You can demonstrate experience in Microsoft Office suite of tools including Microsoft Project. It’s an asset if Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Visio. Working knowledge of data governance practices and principles an asset.
