CIBC Capital Markets, Global Investment Banking provides equity and debt underwriting as well as corporate finance advisory services to corporations. CIBC’s Investment Banking group of professionals are dedicated specifically to advising clients on mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, hostile takeovers, buyouts, takeover defense and restructurings. There is an extensive amount of interaction with other groups within the firm in order to provide clients with customized financing and advisory solutions.The role of an Analyst within CIBC’s Investment Banking group is challenging and fast-paced. Details on your work arrangement (proportion of on-site and remote work) will be discussed at the time of your interview.How You’ll SucceedBased in Montreal, the primary roles and responsibilities for this Analyst position include providing a broad range of analytical, financial modelling, research and presentation preparation support to all the professionals within their group.Developing Client Proposals- Assist in developing proposals to clients and potential clients for equity and debt placements, mergers, asset or company divestitures or acquisitions, and other financial products and advisory servicesResearch- Conduct industry research and analysis to assist in the identification and/or analysis of investment banking business opportunitiesFinancial Models- Develop and audit sophisticated financial models. Prepare industry and financial analysis to determine client recommendationsDue Diligence- Lead industry comparable value and transaction precedent analyses and assist in company due diligence investigationsProspectus Preparation- Prepare offering memoranda and marketing materials and assist with prospectus draftingWho You AreYou have relevant education. Undergraduate degree, alongside professional corporate finance, investment banking, M&A advisory and/or private equity work experience; CFA and/or CPA designations optional but beneficial. All applicants are required to submit both their resume and their transcript in order to be considered for the position.You possess excellent work ethic. Extremely dedicated and motivated individual with high career aspirations. Must be capable of assuming high levels of responsibility within short time frames. Ability to work well under pressure with multiple or competing deadlines while maintaining meticulous attention to detail. Must be able to accept flexibility in required personal time commitments to complete work assignments. Often required to work beyond normal business hours.You can demonstrate relevant technical Skills (Programs, Methodologies, Systems). Excellent analytical abilities, including demonstrated knowledge of valuation techniques and practices. Knowledge of accounting principles relating to financial statement preparation and business combinations. Strong technical skills as it relates to Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), industry technology (Bloomberg, FactSet) and applicable software.You have effective communication skills. Well-developed written and verbal communication skills sufficient to provide detailed explanation and interpretation of factual and conceptual information and ideas related to complex technical and conceptual issues.You’re motivated by collective success. Well-developed interpersonal and relationship-building skills in order to develop, manage and leverage relationships with clients, and internal and/or external business partners.
