Job DescriptionInternal Job Title: Software DeveloperJob Type: Permanent, Full-TimeJob Location: 18 Auriga Drive, Ottawa ONWork Model: HybridPosition SummaryAs an Android Developer in our Digital Services Group you will play a crucial role in developing innovative apps that to support emerging identity models and standards. This position places you at the forefront of the rapidly advancing digital identity space that will redefine the online experience by moving physical identification (e.g. driver’s licenses and identification cards) to secure mobile Android applicationsResponsibilitiesDesign and Build Applications

  • Communicate with Product Managers to understand user requirements and business goals, ensuring the app meets these objectives.
  • Collaborate with UI/UX designers to translate design mockups into functional app interfaces that are visually appealing and easy to navigate.
  • Write clean, efficient and maintainable code to implement the app’s features and functionalities. This includes integrating APIs, databases, and other services.
  • Use wireless technologies in your application such as Bluetooth and NFC.
  • Regularly update the app to fix bugs, add new features, and ensure compatibility with the latest Android versions.
  • Manage our Android Playstore Applications.

Debug and Test

  • Identify and fix bugs or issues in the code using debugging tools and techniques to trace and resolve problems.
  • Conduct various tests (unit tests, integration tests, UI tests) to ensure the app works as expected and is free of errors.

Optimize Performance

  • Ensure the app runs smoothly and efficiently on all supported devices. This includes optimizing code, managing resources, and reducing load times.
  • Make sure the app is scalable and can handle increased usage and data without performance degradation.

Stay Updated

  • Keep up with the latest developments in Android development, such as new libraries, frameworks, and best practices.
  • Learn and adopt new tools and technologies that can improve the development process and the quality of the app.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or related field) or an equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience
  • Knowledge of the following:
  • Android design principles, patterns and best practices
  • Android ecosystem and libraries

  • Agile development methodologies
  • RESTful APIs
  • Database concepts
  • Continuous integration
  • 8+ years of Android development experience
