Grinding Applications Engineer – Award Winning Machine Tool Re-seller.

£25,000 – £32,000 + Your choice of company vehicle + Mobile phone + Laptop 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, Contributary Pension Stakeholder scheme, In house and International training.

My client is a well-established, top ten Sunday times fast track winning machine tool agent renowned for providing a high level of professionalism and efficiency to their impressive client base. They are now offering a fantastic opportunity for an entry level candidate to join their highly successful grinding applications team. The grinding department is at the heart of the organisation contributing to around 25% of the company’s turnover, providing application support predominantly to the medical industry and branching out into the automotive sectors.

Whether you are a commercially minded fresh graduate, or have a couple of years’ experience in manufacturing, programming, or production they offer the opportunity to grow and develop (personally and professionally), with specialist onsite training and international training opportunities at their principles in Germany and Switzerland. Within this client facing position you will represent the company as a face of a well-respected and well-established machine tool company providing them with problem solving strategies whilst developing strong business relationships.

Responsibilities:

  • Providing customers with technical support.
  • Evaluate customer-supplied 3D CAD data and customer drawings.
  • Contributing to sales and, customer application presentations.
  • Maintain expert level of knowledge in products, key applications, and processes.
  • Supporting customers with production applications
  • Support the Sales team in verifying customer business cases.
  • Prepare time studies and recommending suitable work holding & tooling.
  • Supporting Customer with demonstration visits to principals’ facilities in Germany
  • To support the development of the turnkey solution, working alongside your colleagues and the principal’s engineering team to develop a robust solution.
  • Support in the presentation and demonstration of equipment at Trade Shows and Open Houses.
  • To carry out programming and operator training at customers sites in the UK and Ireland.
  • There will be the opportunity to travel to the Gulf to support projects.

Requirements/Useful Skills:

  • Qualified to HND/Degree level in a related field – (Mechanical/Manufacturing engineering, Materials science) or equivalent experience.
  • An understanding of hardened/coated materials and their reaction when machined with abrasives would be an advantage.
  • Interest to work hands on with metal removal technologies working in the principal’s facility as well as at customer sites.
  • Ability to use CAD/CAM software (Nx/ SolidWorks/ Inventor/Fusion360)
  • Understanding and a strong interest in 5 axis/adaptive machining.
  • Ability to work in a team and independently when required, working in a logical methodical manner to solve problems and develop processes.
  • Ability to develop and maintain internal and external customer relationships.
