Job DescriptionApprentice EngineerMount Stuart Hospital, TorquayFull Time – 37.5 HoursA unique and exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and pro-active Apprentice Engineer to join the team at Mount Stuart Hospital, based in Torquay. The successful candidate would be expected to work closely with the existing team to learn and develop though their apprenticeship. You will support the Unit Engineer across a range of duties and will gradually acquire experience from a combination of on-the-job tasks, personalised coaching, and academic study via an external source.Where you’ll be based –Mount Stuart Hospital is one of Devon’s leading private hospitals with an excellent reputation for delivering high quality healthcare treatments and services. The hospital opened in 1984 and has 25 bedrooms all with en-suite facilities to ensure complete privacy.By investing in advanced medical technology, the hospital offers a wide range of treatments and services. The fully equipped ultra clean air theatre suite is particularly suitable for orthopaedic procedures offered such as arthroscopy, hip, knee and ankle replacements.Mount Stuart Hospital’s wide range of surgical procedures also include general surgery, vascular surgery, gynaecology, urology, ENT and Ophthalmology and spinal surgery.Duties & Responsibilities –
- Assisting with weekly and quarterly testing of sterilizers, washer disinfectors and ultrasonic washers.
- Involvement with planned preventative maintenance (PPMs) e.g. water testing, fire alarm testing, AHU inspection and filter changes etc.
- Maintaining a high standard of Health and Safety awareness and practice.
- Carrying out ad hoc minor repairs and replacement in the Unit e.g. lighting, plaster damage, plumbing.
- “Shadowing” Hospital Engineers in order to gain first-hand experience.
- Regular and timely attendance at college and any other training activities that are arranged.
What you will bring with you –
