- Accurately input financial data, including invoices, expenses, payments, and transactions, into accounting systems or spreadsheets
- Assist in reconciling bank statements, accounts, and ledgers to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies
- Support the preparation of financial reports, summaries, and statements for review by senior management
- Help with accounts receivable by generating invoices and tracking customer payments
- Stay informed about accounting principles, regulations, and compliance standards to ensure the company’s financial practices align with legal requirements
- Work collaboratively with other departments, providing financial information or support as needed
Person
- Along with the skills below, you will ideally be AAT qualified to a minimum of level 3
- Proficiency in bookkeeping tasks such as data entry, maintaining financial records, reconciliations, and handling accounts receivable
- A fundamental understanding of accounting principles, including knowledge of debits and credits, basic financial statements, and GAAP
- Experience with Sage 50 accounting and proficiency in MS Excel for data analysis, spreadsheets, and financial reporting
- Strong organisational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks, prioritise workload, and meet deadlines
- Effective communication skills, to interact with team members, clients, and to present financial information clearly and concisely
These skills collectively contribute to an Assistant Accountant’s ability to effectively manage financial tasks, ensure accuracy in reporting, and support the financial health of the business.
Expected salary
£30000 – 35000 per year
