Hours: 30 hours per week, including Saturday and Sunday weekend cover required on a rota basis.
About the role
We are looking for a talented, disciplined and enthusiastic individual to join our Hospice catering team. In this role you will be responsible for the running of the kitchen while on duty, producing high quality food products to patients and dining room customers alike, organise and prioritise catering assistant tasks, oversee service and maintaining a clean and safe working environment. The catering team and volunteers are a vital part of our organisation and we are proud of the service we provide to patients, staff and visitors, offering nutritious and tempting meals throughout the week and weekends.
The main responsibilities include:
- Deputising on shift to delivery high quality often bespoke meals for patients, visitors and staff.
- Producing, keeping and helping to improve standards in the catering department.
- Working with the team to deliver an outstanding service.
- Working to upkeep the legislation and our HACCP systems.
- Delivery, mentoring and training where needed to team members.
About you:
The successful candidate should be a team player, committed and willing to learn new skills. You will hold a Food Hygiene certificate level 2 (or be working towards), have excellent communication skills and the ability to prioritise workloads to meet the needs of the service.
Applicants should demonstrate a caring and sensitive approach to all our patient’s and relative needs and display a friendly attitude and manner to staff and visitors at all times.
You will also be able to demonstrate the ability to support and direct volunteers on shift, a willingness to undertake further training and attend team meetings as required and be flexible to cover other areas of the catering if needed.
