Posted On: Apr 25, 2024Assistant ControllerOur client is searching for an Assistant Controller to join their team. This role will be responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating all corporate accounting functions. A successful candidate will manage the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for accurate accounting of consolidated business results, responsibilities and duties for both US and Canadian companies.Your success will be defined by your ability to:

  • Understand and adhere to all company policies and procedures, furthermore understand and adhere to all client’s policies and procedures
  • Consolidate financial reporting
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly bank reporting
  • Prepare cash forecasts
  • Review payroll
  • Manage treasury and banking
  • Forecast cash flow and manage working capital
  • Credit card management
  • Coordinate with the Operational Controller on annual budgets and forecasting
  • Coordinate the annual audit
  • Manage all aspects of the general ledger
  • Maintain and improve internal controls
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and direction to the accounting team
  • Continuously improve the process and technology advances
  • Other duties required as per the management team

Your strengths include:

  • 5+ years of experience in an accounting leadership role, preferably in the Oil and Gas Industry or a similar background
  • CPA Designation
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with a high degree of professionalism
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian financial standards, IFRS, tax law and payroll designation
  • Exceptional knowledge of ERPs, with knowledge of SAP is considered an asset
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office products with a primary focus on Excel
  • Knowledge and compliance with Federal, Provincial/State, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating future legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, filing financial reports, and advising management on needed actions
