The Agribusiness Development Section is to promote the development of agricultural industry and agribusiness throughout North Carolina and to improve the economic well-being of the agricultural and rural community.
This position oversees the Agribusiness Development Section in the Marketing Division. This position directs the Fruits and Vegetable Cooperative Grading Service, Grain Grading Service, Agribusiness Development program, and the Market News program.

The N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services provide services that promote and improve agriculture, agribusiness and forests; protect consumers and businesses; and conserve farmland and natural resources for the prosperity of all North Carolinians. The Department employs approximately 2,000 employees.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies
- Ability to supervise others.
- Knowledge of the principals involved in the processing and marketing of agricultural commodities.
- Ability to analyze marketing situations and industry needs and to creatively formulate plans of work to meet these needs.
- Knowledge of the principles of agricultural economics.
- Ability to deal tactfully and successfully in high level negotiations of potentially major economic impact which involves corporate management, community, and State leadership.
MANAGEMENT PREFERENCES:
- Experience in agriculture commodity grading.
- Experience in hiring and managing large number of employees.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
You may qualify by an equivalent combination of education and experience, either through years of education or years of directly related experience, or a combination of both.
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business administration, crop science, animal science, horticulture, economics, or a related field from an appropriately accredited institution and five years of experience in marketing; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
