Job Summary
Assists the Director in the management of the Organizations & Student Involvement Office. The Assistant Director provides oversight and advisement to all branches of FGCU Student Government and oversees operations within Student Government funded programs. Assists in the analysis of the effectiveness of and establishes the future direction for functional policies and programs. This position is responsible for managing professional and student staff.

Job Description
Typical duties my include but are not limited to:
- Assists the director in strategic alignment and management oversight of programs within the Organizations & Student Involvement Office and FGCU Student Government funded programs.
- Serves on the management team with the Director.
- Participates in the strategic planning for FGCU Student Government and assists the Director in developing and implementing the overall departmental strategic plan.
- Establishes performance goals and measures to evaluate success of assigned area of responsibility.
- Provides guidance, oversight, and advisement for FGCU Student Government branches and members.
- Provides fiscal management and administrative oversight of Student Government budgets. Ensures fiscal policies and procedures are implemented in accordance with governing documents and university/state procedures.
- Creates, develops, and implements comprehensive and systematic leadership training for Student Government.
- Supervises the day-to-day operations of FGCU Student Government and Student Government funded programs, including the supervision of departmental employees. Provides guidance and direction to professional and student staff involved in department services and programs.
- Promotes participation in Student Government and various other student-focused organizations and events.
- Oversees the Student Government Election process.
- Participates in formulating and implementing policies and procedures.
- Oversees the development, administration, and analysis of program/initiative assessments. Prepares statistical, analytical, and narrative reports to guide decision-making and program/initiative improvement.
- Ensures all programs, activities, and series comply with university, state, and federal regulations.
- Collaborates with other campus departments and services to support Student Government and organization resources and promoting the advancement of student issues.
Other Duties:
- Serves on institutional committees representing the interests of the department.
- Attends Student Government meetings and other meetings across campus as needed.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Additional Job Description
Required Qualifications:
- This position requires either eight years of directly related full-time experience or, as an alternative, a Master’s degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of full-time experience directly related to the job functions.
- Professional full-time experience in Student Affairs at a higher education institution in student governance, student organization advising, student programming, fraternity and sorority life, leadership development, or related area.
- Experience hiring and supervising professional and/or student employees.
- Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
- Experience with personal computers and proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and desktop publishing.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Three years of full-time experience in Student Affairs at a higher education institution in student governance, student organization advising, student programming, fraternity & sorority life, leadership development or a related area
- Experience directly advising Student Government Association or similar student organization.
- Experience with workshop and program facilitation and implementation in the areas of leadership development and organizational development.
- Experience in developing systems utilizing technology and software in the administration of student organizations such as the Campus Labs Anthology platform.

Pay Grade: 17
Salary commensurate with education and experience within pay grade.
