ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:
POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Talent Management, the Assistant Director of Talent Management, Innovation and Culture will serve as an integral part of the USF Advancement team with responsibility to enhance organizational effectiveness through inspiring and driving innovation efforts within the division.  This incumbent will support Project Innovation through fostering a culture of creativity, driving the development of groundbreaking ideas, and spearheading initiatives that propel our organization forward.  The ideal candidate will possess a strategic mindset, strong leadership and communication skills and a proven track record of successfully implementing innovative solutions. 
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Passionate and dynamic professional with a proven track record of harmonizing strategy, programs and experiences. Ability to drive complex projects spanning multiple departments. Experience participating in or leading groups through an innovation, process mapping and/or change management process. Demonstrated ability to think strategically and translate concepts into actionable plans. Strong interpersonal, collaborative and project management skills with a customer focus. Ability to foster and maintain sound working relationships with key stakeholders. Engaging written and oral communication skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
 

Innovation  

  • Cultivate a dynamic ecosystem that inspires and empowers every individual within our organization to think boldly, contribute transformative ideas and embrace evolution.
  • Plan and execute the process for generating and evaluating new ideas which may include Brew Sessions (brainstorming sessions) and Innovation Summits (an innovation showcase with the executive team). 
  • Provide mentorship, guidance, and support to all team members to enhance their innovation capabilities.
  • Provide oversite and direction to best leverage the Innovation Coach team, an employee volunteer group designed to help stimulate and support the innovation process.
  • Implement learning programs to enhance the innovation capabilities of employees across the organization.
  • Drive the timely progression and completion of approved projects with a sense of urgency and commitment to deadlines. 
  • Establish and share total effectiveness measurements for innovation initiatives. 
  • Regularly reward and recognize employees for exceptional progress made in the innovation space.

 

Organizational Development and Culture

  • In alignment with URISE (Responsibility, Innovation, Service & Excellence), our defined cultural anchors, drive a thriving culture across the Advancement community where employees are engaged, able to perform at their fullest potential and enabled to do their best work.
  • Collaboratively design and lead implementation of key change-based initiatives that contribute to the organization’s strategic goals and cultivates an even more highly engaged workforce.
  • Seek ways to develop talent, and create a compelling and rewarding work experience that shifts mindsets and behaviors toward a nimbler and more innovative environment to drive long-term impact.
  • Leverage the yearly employee engagement survey and pulse check to actively identify opportunities to enhance culture. 

Communications  

  • Effectively communicate innovation strategy, progress, and successes to internal stakeholders, external partners, and the broader industry.
  • Partner with the Advancement Communications and Marketing team to ensure Advancing U, our weekly employee newsletter, keeps our internal audience engaged in innovation and other talent management initiatives to drive our organization forward.
  • Leverage existing employee touch points (Division Wide Meetings, Collaboration Summits, Anchor Days etc.) to support a culture of innovation.

Talent Management Strategy and Leadership

  • In partnership with the Assistant Vice President of Talent Management, establish a best-in-class Talent Management program focused on employee engagement, retention and performance in support of the USF’s Advancement goals. 
  • With a growth mindset, keep abreast of culture and innovation best practices gained through professional associations, reading, and meetings with industry contacts.  Share new findings on a regular basis. 
  • Educate, coach and inspire leaders throughout the organization to adopt talent management best practices and join in the effort of creating a highly engaged workforce.   

 

Additional Duties as Assigned

  • Perform related duties as required or deemed appropriate to the accomplishment of the responsibilities and functions related to this position.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution with a minimum of four years related exempt experience, including two years of supervisory
experience.
PREFERRED:
Master’s Degree in related field. Experience with development, fundraising, alumni relations and/or higher education.
