What is the opportunity?

RBC Direct Investing (RBCDI) is currently looking for Assistant Manager for the Montreal Investor Centre. RBCDI is a “do-it-yourself” online brokerage that provides clients with access to the capital markets and other investment products. The Investor Centres service all client segments, but the business strategy is designed to focus on High Net Worth (HNW) and Ultra High Net Worth (UHNW) client relationships requiring an elevated level of service. In your role, you will support the Manager to achieve strategic and financial goals of the RBDI Centre. Your main objectives are to drive new client acquisition, consolidate assets from existing clients, and to provide personal support and service to existing clients. The role will also provide you with the opportunity to work with colleagues and leaders across all lines of business in Quebec.

What will you do?

Manage client requests delivered in-person or via instruction provided over the phone.

Provide start-to-finish sales and ‘after sales’ service. Assistant Manager will take ownership of and be involved in comprehensive client service; including account opening, asset transfers, guidance through online access/set-up, maintenance and follow-up once assets are received.

The Assistant Manager will be called upon to support escalations and service requests from internal partners handling high net worth clients of Private Banking, Commercial Banking, RBC Capital Markets, RBC Dominion Securities and RBC Executives.

The Assistant Manager plays a key role in establishing and maintaining the RBC DI Investor Centre as an anchor point for in person ‘white glove service’ for HNW clients and key RBC partners and partner with the IC HVCMs and HVCMs to achieve business acquisition objectives.

The role will leverage a superior level of knowledge of the brokerage and wealth management industry, RBC Direct Investing and other lines-of-business within the Canadian Banking platform. This will require the individual to be able to apply their advanced knowledge of RBC DI, Capital Markets and Canadian Wealth Management operations to service client requests, often with extremely tight time-constraints.

The Assistant Manager will be required to develop and present rational to senior decision-makers in RBC DI, Canadian Wealth Management, Capital Markets and Canadian Banking to champion exceptions on behalf of a client. If the exception is granted, you are expected to oversee the implementation of the exception, including establishing the necessary operational procedures to meet regulatory/compliance requirements.

Plays a key role in developing and maintaining relationships with business professionals/high value clients, senior officers with corporations and senior RBC personnel. Looks for opportunities to refer business to partners.

Participates in educational seminars to new and existing customers to promote the use of RBC DI tools and research and to generate awareness of all available products.

What do you need to succeed?

Must have:

Canadian Securities Course (CSC)

Conduct and Practices Handbook (CPH)

3-5 years of experience as an Investment Representative (IR) or Investment Advisor Associate (IAA)

Working Knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint

Bilingualism (English and French) required, as you will regularly do business with partners across Canada

Nice to have:

Preference made to candidates that are licensed/possess the Derivatives Fundamentals Course and Options License (OLC)

Applied knowledge of RBC Canadian Wealth Management practices, risk management and operational procedures
