Requisition ID: 200573Join a purpose driven winning team, committed to results, in an inclusive and high-performing culture.Purpose:Manages the overall success of the GWO Tax Reporting team for globally held assets in Prime brokerage, Scotia Capital Inc., Scotia Wealth Management, ITRADE, ScotiaTrust, BNS Custody Services and BNS Foreign Subsidiaries ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Implementation of consistency in best practices of client coverage, escalation and incident resolution. Identification of synergies and cross training opportunity for increased capacity within the teams.
  • Oversees responsibilities of assigned staff and responsible for the maintenance/development of performance metrics and evaluations
  • As a Tax Reporting Manager, you will provide oversight and management on defined aspects of Scotiabank client tax reporting and oversee all aspects of Scotiabank duties relevant to tax treatments and oversees the tax slip production and distribution to respective clients.
  • Reviews regulatory reports prepared by report producer. Investigates anomalies/exceptions & escalates as required.
  • Ensures all GWO standards as described in SOPs are being adhere to prior to approval as well as accurate record keeping and retention.
  • Performs control check review of manual/automated reporting for approval.
  • Gathers data, performs quality control functions & compiles data for report submission.
  • Ensures report timeliness, completeness & accuracy of submission.
  • Play a crucial role in ensuring that Scotiabank reputation is protected by adhering to Scotiabank compliance and risk framework.
  • Ensure operational efficiency of the Tax Reporting Team is maintained at a high level in accordance with approved policy and procedures
  • Oversight, Design and Process Improvement to be conducted with annual tax campaign activities as it pertains to Regulatory Reporting (CRA &/OR QI &/OR FTT Reconciliation in a timely and accurate basis
  • Effectively manage risk and minimize losses and ensure effective procedural internal controls are in place
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for improvements in productivity, control, cost effectiveness and client service delivery encouraging global processing consistency where applicable

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? – We’d love to work with you if you have:

  • College or University degree related to Taxation or Accounting Preferred (3-year program)
  • Tax related courses, certifications, or industry designation
  • 5 or more years of experience in tax reporting / filing process
  • Working knowledge of taxability wrt to dividends, income processing, and reorg
  • Knowledge of Broadridge platforms
  • Working knowledge of the following systems: TFP, TXSY, CDS, DTCC, BFS, AS400.
  • Strong reconciliation and analytical skills
