| Department Summary | The Murchison Performing Arts Center at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire a part-time Opera lighting designer to join their team. |
| Position Summary | Lighting designer will work with COM Opera stage director, production manager and other show designers to create a plot, focus all fixtures, and design all cues for the production in order to adequately and artistically serve the production. Designer will work closely with the Stage Director to achieve their artistic vision within reasonable time and equipment restraints. Designer will attend weekly production meetings either in person or over zoom/teams starting 2 months before the production opens. Designer will turn in paperwork for the light hang by the prescribed deadline and will update as needed throughout the production. Designer will attend hang call, focus call and pre-tech cue sessions as indicated by the Opera Production Manager. Designer’s attendance is required for the duration of all piano and orchestra dress rehearsals according to the schedule determined by the Opera Production Manager. |
