The Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Toronto invites applications for a full-time tenure stream position in Dental Public Health. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2024.

Candidates must have earned a DDS/DMD/BDS degree, or equivalent, and a PhD degree in an area related to Dental Public Health by the time of appointment, or shortly thereafter, with a demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching. The candidate must have successfully completed specialty training in Dental Public Health in a program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of Canada or the Commission on Dental Accreditation in the United States, or a non-accredited program and subsequently successfully completed qualification through a Dental Specialty Assessment and Training Program. The successful candidate must be eligible for or have obtained licensure as a dental public health specialist with the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario, and must have practical experience in public health. We are particularly interested in candidates who hold a Fellowship in the Royal College of Dentists of Canada in Dental Public Health. We seek candidates whose research and teaching interests complement and enhance our existing , particularly in the areas of oral health promotion, access to oral healthcare, and public health policy. The successful candidate will be expected to pursue innovative and independent research, and to establish an outstanding, competitive, and externally funded research program.
Candidates must provide evidence of research excellence which can be demonstrated by a record of publications in top-ranked and field relevant journals or forthcoming publications meeting high international standards, the submitted research statement, presentations at significant conferences, awards and accolades, and strong endorsements from referees.
Evidence of excellence in teaching will be provided through teaching accomplishments, the teaching dossier (with required materials as outlined below) submitted as part of the application, as well as strong letters of reference.
The candidate is expected to contribute to both the undergraduate and graduate programs in Dental Public Health and assume the role of Program Director of the Dental Public Health graduate program.
The candidate is expected to develop Dental Public Health curriculum and research content that embeds the principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) and explores oral health inequities. The candidate should bring novel approaches to both leverage and advance collaboration among existing research areas within the Faculty of Dentistry and externally. Applicability of their research to the practice of public health is expected.
