Offer Description

The area of research and teaching is Industrial Mechanical Systems Engineering. The annual gross salary is about 47.000 Euros.
Requested research duties: the research activity will be developed within the branches characterizing the scientific disciplinary field ING-IND/17 (Industrial Mechanical Plants) with particular focus on predictive maintenance of production systems using machine learning algorithms and the related support for the design and management of industrial plants, by way of example by:
• Using sensors and Industrial Internet of Things technologies to monitor quantitative parameters and physical characteristics of critical components of machinery and industrial plants;
• Defining and developing supervised, unsupervised and reinforcement learning algorithms for quantitative analysis and value extraction from data and signals acquired using sensors;
• Design and prototyping of decision support tools for diagnostics and prognostics of complex manufacturing systems, using both off-line and real-time approaches, with particular focus on Overall Equipment Effectiveness;
• Testing and validation of methodologies and tools developed in both laboratory and industrial environments, with particular focus to industrial plants, manufacturing processes and complex production systems;
• Definition of innovative maintenance paradigms based on the developed solutions that consider Industry 5.0 characteristics, with particular reference to resilience and environmental sustainability of industrial plants.
Requested teaching duties: the teaching activity, in coherence with the annual didactic planning, will concern the carrying out of courses in the disciplinary area object of the call – or in related fields – in the bachelor’s, master’s degree programs pertaining to the Department of Industrial Engineering. The same may, in addition, include teaching in English at an advanced level related to the research activity conducted; the teaching commitment of the contract holder is defined by the Council of the Department of Industrial Engineering during the planning of teaching activities, according to the specific University regulation.
Foreign language required: Excellent level of English.
Knowledge of Italian: level adequate to carry out the assigned teaching load (the researcher is required to teach in Italian);
Maximum number of publications to be presented: 12.
