All we need is you.This position is based in the following office location: Manchester, NHThe opportunitySouthern New Hampshire University in Manchester, NH is looking for an Assistant Professor of Global Affairs in our diverse Department of Social Science. You will report to the Dean of the School of Arts, Sciences, and Education and cover face-to-face, on-site courses in international relations/global affairs, the United Nations, US foreign policy, international social problems, world legal traditions, and related content in Political Science, International Relations, and Sociology disciplines. You will teach across these traditionally separate fields, while also serving our general education program, The Commons, and maintain an active research agenda in international relations, international sociology, comparative politics, or a related field. #LI-OnsiteThis is a permanent, full-time, contractually-covered faculty position, with a teaching load generally between 3/3 and 4/4, depending on other scholarship and service contributions, department/school need, and individual preferences, with class sizes ranging from 10 to 30 students.What you’ll do:
- Develop and deliver engaging lectures, seminars, and tutorials on topics related to politics, international relations, and international affairs.
- Design and update course materials, including syllabi, reading lists, and assignments, to reflect current events and academic developments.
- Provide mentorship and support to students, including advising on academic and career-related matters.
- Evaluate student performance through assessments, examinations, and graded assignments, providing constructive feedback for improvement.
- Participate in departmental activities, including meetings, committees, and academic projects.
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the quality of teaching and learning within the department and across the institution.
- Maintain an active scholarly agenda
- Hold a minimum of 5 hours per week
What we’re looking for:
- Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in Political Science, International Relations, Sociology, or a related field, in-hand by 1 August 2025
- Demonstrated scholarly expertise and a research agenda in one or more subfields related to global affairs, such as international relations, comparative politics, economic development, international political sociology, international security, diplomacy, political economy, foreign policy, or human rights
- Prior face-to-face teaching experience as the instructor-of-record at the college level
