All areas of specialization within comparative politics are invited to apply. We are particularly interested in candidates whose research and teaching address pressing global political issues such as democratization, political institutions, authoritarianism, regional studies, or comparative public policy. Primary teaching responsibilities will be undergraduate courses in comparative politics at the introductory and advanced levels, including courses in UNI’s general education program that serve as a gateway into the political science major. The normal teaching load is three courses per semester.The department provides a supportive environment for faculty development, growth, and professional success. We are home to undergraduate majors in Political Science, Public Administration, and Political Communication, and a Master of Public Policy program. We also offer several minors and certificates, including an International Affairs minor and an International Peace and Security certificate. The department oversees a successful Model United Nations Competition Team and is part of the U.S. Strategic Command’s Academic Alliance.The University of Northern Iowa provides high-quality education, purposefully guiding students to find and develop their strengths and preparing them for success after college.
