About the RoleFor informal enquiries, please contact Julie Freemantle at .This role is responsible for the administrative management that underpins the Undergraduate (UG) programmes within the School of Engineering. The role contributes to the development and ongoing review of working practices and operating procedures within the UG office, ensuring efficient and effective administrative processes are embedded within its function.The postholder will lead a team of four (two Programme Coordinators and two Programme Assistants), and effective management of the team and the UG Student Office is a critically important element of this role. This includes ensuring processes are in place to support the smooth running of student administration and that the team are supported, trained, and empowered to deliver a high-quality administrative service. You will be expected to provide mentoring and coaching to your team and support their training and development.To support the School at student events there is a requirement for occasional weekend working. Given the nature of this role, there is an expectation that the postholder will work a minimum of 80% of their time based in the office.About YouEducated to degree standard (or equivalent work experience) you’ll have experience of student-facing and student-centric work, and be aware of the current issues affecting the HE sector.You have the ability to understand and empathise with students of all levels within an academic and multi-cultural environment. Your excellent communication skills enable you to build rapport and develop effective and positive working relationships with staff and students, plus deal with issues sensitively and confidentially.Your strong numerical and statistical abilities will be put to use in analysis and presentation of key facts and figures in easy-to-understand formats. As an analytical problem solver who is able to comprehend broad and complex issues, you are practised in identifying and implementing solutions, including improvement, or development, of administrative systems and processes.Experience of managing people is essential, with the capacity to lead, motivate, negotiate, facilitate and empathise with your team.
