2 positions available:1 x 37 hpw – fixed term to 30 June 20261 x 18.5 hpw – permanent(please indicate in your application form supporting statement if you have preference for a particular post or if you would like to be considered for either)Ensuring our online services are accessible and available to everyone, is a key priority for City of York Council, as more of our customers use digital media.We’re looking for additional Assistant Web Officers to join our small but ambitious team, as we continue to develop websites with a customer-focused vision; to provide high quality and responsive services, using modern technologies.Extra resource is sought during this busy time, as we integrate new software into our toolkit; the Assistant Web Officer role is key to supporting services whilst we achieve our goal.We’re seeking individuals to edit and manage engaging web content, featuring secure user-friendly design and clear navigation, whilst ensuring compatibilitiy with a variety of browsers and platforms, and meeting privacy and accessibility regulations.We’re looking for candidates who have excellent attention to detail and outstanding communication skills. The post requires an ability to ‘write for the web’ in plain English, and some HTML and CSS coding skills.A willingness to learn and develop, in addition to a positive attitude towards collaborative working, is essential; knowledge of content management, search engine optimisation and local government are beneficial.If you’re looking for a new challenge, to develop your career, or you’re interested in the diversity of work a Local Authority could offer, we welcome your application.This role is suitable as a job share opportunity.As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C2 Can express themselves spontaneously at length with a natural conversational flow, avoiding or backtracking around any difficulty so smoothly that the person with whom they are conversing is hardly aware of it.If you are an internal candidate interested in applying for the fixed term position as a secondment opportunity, please discuss with your current line manager before submitting your application.Hybrid working arrangements are available for this role.
