DescriptionThe DepartmentIn an increasingly competitive and regulated world, in which disputes have become a fact of business life, Mishcon de Reya has built one of the largest, most complete and experienced Dispute Resolution departments in London. It is the reason why nearly half of the firm’s lawyers are litigators.Our White Collar Crime & Investigations team offers an award-winning service to clients, whether companies in need of advice in respect of suspected fraud or bribery by employees or individuals who are themselves under investigation. The team’s broad practice encompasses the defence of allegations of financial crime as well as serious and general crime. We are frequently instructed to advise clients in respect of proceeds of crime investigations. We have extradition specialists within the team who advise clients who are the subject of extradition proceedings or Interpol red notices. We also have market leading Health & Safety expertise and frequently advise clients who are the subject of H&S investigations and prosecutions.Our lawyers advise on numerous cases involving bribery and corruption, money laundering, fraud, insider dealing, asset denial, sanctions breaches and mutual legal assistance. Our team is diverse and includes those from top boutique defence practices, US firms and the Bar as well as former prosecutors.The breadth of the firm’s practice means that we can, for example, call on the firm’s reputation lawyers to manage difficult press and social media situations; we have a top tier employment team able to give advice to employers or employees involved in an investigation or we can offer immigration or asylum advice to those who are the subject of extradition proceedings.Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe role will involve acting for both individuals and corporate clients in investigations and in white collar and general criminal defence proceedings and H&S investigations. You will have the opportunity to advise on investigations involving the SFO, FCA, NCA, HMRC, HSE and the CPS, amongst others.You will be expected to advise on all aspects of a case, and experience of police station representation is preferable. Ideally, you will have experience of Crown Court trials. You must be able to manage the administrative aspects of a case, from matter opening to billing and you should have excellent financial discipline.Skills/Experience
- 2-4 years’ PQE gained at a leading criminal practice. You should have experience of defending individuals in criminal proceedings, ideally both in financial crime and in serious and general crime.
- Strong academic record.
