Job SummaryJob DescriptionWhat is the Opportunity?An RBC Dominion Securities branch located in the downtown core, is seeking an Associate Advisor to join a large successful Advisory Team. You will deepen client relationships by offering sound advice and support to clients and to the Investment Advisor. Identifying and assisting growth of new business opportunities will also be key.Position Summary:The Associate Advisor will need to work with a team to help execute the Portfolio Managers’ investment strategy across client portfolios. Advanced excel skills will be required as building large trading spreadsheets is a frequent task. Having an interest in and understanding of financial markets is necessary as it will be required at times to communicate to clients the team’s strategy. Researching various stocks for the Portfolio Managers and providing analysis and recommendations will be required. Aiding clients in financial decisions, including registered account contribution decisions and financial plans will also be required. The associate will need to learn how to execute and cover both equity and fixed income trading. Doing client meeting prep work then joining Portfolio Managers for meetings, handling workflow generated from the meeting will be part of the role. Eventually, the role will include managing client relationships for a certain subset of clientele individually, handling all matters related to these clients. Some admin work will be required.What will you do?
- Demonstrate strong teamwork skills, collaborating with other team members to implement PM investment strategy for clients.
- Detail oriented and efficient, able to manage one’s own workflow with minimal errors and oversight.
- Rebalance teams portfolios and execute trades.
- Strong financial and modelling skills, building complex trading spreadsheets.
- Broad understanding and relationship of macro-economic, geopolitical, and world issues and how they influence markets.
- Seen as a credible communicator and can articulate PM’s views on markets effectively to clients.
- Understanding of basic tax and estate planning, able to build and present clients with financial plans.
- Aiding PM’s in client prospecting activities by building pitch decks and contributing to client acquisition strategy.
What do you need to succeed?Must-have
- 5-7 years in the securities industry in a leadership role and/or providing client portfolio analysis, recommendations, and trade advice.
- Valid Securities License with Securities Commission(s) – Registered Representative/Investment Advisor category
- Either CFA, CPA or CPF/PFP designation
- University Degree
- Advanced Microsoft PC (Excel & Power Point) software skills
- Good standing in Continuing Education (CE) credits
- Excellent interpersonal skills, ethic, and excellent presentation and communication skills
- Working knowledge of capital markets with a deep curiosity in subject matter
- Experience working as part of a team
- Experience in client relationship management
