Do you have strong written and spoken communication skills?You will join RBC Capital Markets to assist members of the Credit Transaction Management Trading team in the origination, structuring, execution, administration, and portfolio management of trading credit facilities for a portfolio of RBC Capital Markets’ clients. CTM – Trading plays a key role in the realization of Global Markets’ objectives through the structuring, syndication, and management of trading credit for a targeted customer base. As an Analyst/Associate, you will manage a portfolio of credit relationships within the Global Credit division of RBC Capital Markets. You will be responsible for underwriting and requesting risk approval to support the trading credit and cash management needs of large corporate relationships within RBC Capital Markets.This is a client-facing role. You will manage relationships with external clients as well as sales and trading professionals within RBC Capital Markets, coordinating across internal legal, regulatory, operational, and risk teams to ensure client trading and overdraft needs are met on a timely basis, including addressing credit requirements as necessary. Alongside this, candidates are expected to safeguard the credit quality of the trading credit portfolio, ensure all limit systems accurately record approvals, and help in the preparation of timely management information reports as required.**** Please note: This role can be at an Analyst or an Associate level, depending on the incumbent’s background and skillset.****What will you do?
- Ensure timely preparation of internal credit submissions (i.e. company, industry and financial analysis and modeling) and other documentation related to the transaction approval process. Requests support RBC Capital Markets’ credit-intensive trading activities with large corporate clients, and may include (but are not limited to): new credits, restructurings, extensions, documentation review, and establishing lines for cash management.
- Manage the complete client set-up process for trading products – covering risk, regulatory, legal, compliance, tax and operational matters as required to deliver readiness to trade within tight deadlines.
- Build and maintain relationships with your own set of clients as well as sales and trading professionals within RBC.
- Manage your own workload and juggle competing priorities to deliver RBC’s products to the client according to business and client demands.
- Understand and assess client trading strategies from a risk perspective.
- Maintain accurate limit data within RBC credit systems.
- Complete assigned projects and other duties in an efficient and effective manner to support business initiatives.
- Initiate and maintain contact with trading professionals, Group Risk Management, Market Risk, Counterparty Credit Risk, Trading Documentation, RBC Law Group, Compliance, and Operations.
- Understand and assist in negotiating supporting trading documentation (e.g. ISDA and GMRA), and daily review of unauthorized overdrafts.
- Ensure timely preparation of annual reviews for an assigned portfolio, and ensure the data integrity of credit systems.
- Participate in team deliverables with respect to regulatory/audit requests.
- Ensure transactional requests are reviewed and approved within policy.
- Completion of ad-hoc projects and other duties (including presenting to key stakeholders) efficiently and effectively, in order to support the team meeting planned and unplanned demands.
- Develop expertise in various industries and trading products, policies and guidelines, and provide value added advice to internal partners.
What do you need to succeed?Must-have:
- Highly motivated self-starter with keen attention to detail and strong interest in corporate finance and credit.
- Ability to perform well under pressure, meet time sensitive deadlines, adapt to changing circumstances, prioritize work and multi-task responsibilities while working for multiple people.
- Advanced financial modeling abilities, as well as superior written and presentation skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Power Point.
- Strong analytical skills including the ability to critically assess financial statements and other client reports to draw reasonable conclusions and make suitable recommendations.
- Excellent interpersonal & communication skills with ability to develop and maintain relationships at all levels within and outside of the organization.
As an Analyst you will need:
- Strong academic credentials including completion of Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or Engineering mathematics or any other problem solving fields.
- Enrollment in the CFA program or other relevant professional designation would be an asset.
- 1-2 years of relevant work experience in corporate lending / corporate finance would be an asset but is not required.
As an Associate you will also need:
- 2-5 years work experience in a related field, including corporate lending, finance and/or risk management.
- Strong credit and analytical skills including the ability to critically assess financial statements and other client reports to draw reasoned conclusions and recommend a course of action.
- Previous banking experience with relationship management, structuring and writing of credit proposals, credit processes, policies, risk analysis would be an asset.
- MBA or CPA, CFA professional designation (completed or near completion) would be an asset.
Nice-to-have:
- Familiarity and basic understanding of trading products including FX, swaps, and securities finance.
- Understanding of trading documentation.
- Advanced data and computer management skills including proficiency with Excel. Tableau experience is an additional asset.
- Ability to establish priorities and manage tasks with accompanying attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret, explain and communicate opinions and recommendations using strong verbal and written skills.
- Ability to read and understand complex legal documents.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment and to interact at all levels within a large organization.
- Ability to prioritize, perform well under pressure and meet time sensitive deadlines.
- MBA, professional designation (e.g., CA, CMA, CFA) or a post-graduate degree with a focus in finance, economics or quantitative discipline would be an asset.
