ABOUT THE CAMPAIGN AND CREATIVE SERVICES TEAM

The Campaign and Creative Services Team works with Democratic candidates and progressive organizations at the forefront of the nation’s most pressing issues. Our team of experienced political strategists, creatives, ad-makers, branding experts and data analysts combine television, direct mail, digital ads and political strategy with data-driven analysis to help our clients develop sophisticated campaigns that are delivered to the right people.

ABOUT THIS ROLE

BerlinRosen is seeking an Associate Art Director to join the Campaign & Creative Services (CCS) team as we staff up for the 2024 election season. You should have natural talent and an interest in politics with the ability to translate abstract messages into direct mail, canvassing literature, digital/social media ads and other creative products.

Role duration: This is a temporary, full-time temporary position that will run from February 2024 through October 31, 2024.

Role location: Ideally, candidates are based near our New York, N.Y. office, though remote candidates in the United States will still be considered.

ACCOUNTABILITIES & QUALIFICATIONS

As our Associate Art Director on the CCS team, you will…

  • Work with the Creative Director and account team members to concept, design and execute multiple campaigns simultaneously
  • Be responsible for all aspects of design, from planning out concepts to layouts and providing instructions to illustrators and photographers for direct mail and campaign materials
  • Ensure visual designs adhere to project requirements, objectives and timelines, upholding brand standards across all projects with a keen eye for typography, graphic design and illustration
  • Manage and prioritize multiple projects for yourself and graphic designers to meet deadlines
  • Provide feedback and direction to designers and mentor team members to grow their skills
  • Interpret complex ideas into visual narratives and brainstorming strategies with senior team members
  • Direct photoshoots when possible

Essential skills:

  • 5+ years experience with design (including print) and art direction in an agency setting (or comparable environment)
  • Experience with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Willingness to work long hours and weekends during peak periods
  • Conceptual thinking and hands-on design skills
  • Strong ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced work environment and work both independently and as part of a team
  • Detail-oriented, efficient, organized, highly productive and collaborative approach to work with strong time management skills
  • Expert knowledge of typography, color, layout, production and other design principles
  • Adaptability in changing your design aesthetic and approach to fit a variety of campaigns and audiences within tight deadlines
  • Can adapt under pressure and quickly pivot priorities to meet last-minute deadlines
  • Well-versed in every step of design, and skilled at interpreting complex ideas visually through color, photography and typography

Preferred skills:

  • Editorial design experience
  • Political campaign design experience

WORKING AT BERLINROSEN

Compensation philosophy: BerlinRosen offers competitive industry rate salary bands with the goal of retaining and growing talented individuals. We regularly review and adjust our compensation structure as needed to ensure equity across teams and levels.

The salary (prorated) for this role is $90,000.
