JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking an Associate Biorepository Officer for a 2-year-regular position (renewable) to work within the Biosafety department at the International Vaccine Institute in Seoul, Korea. (Duty station : Seoul, Korea)
Job Description

This job is responsible for assisting in the timely acquisition and processing of quality specimens. Duties include, but are not limited to, transporting specimens, providing effective communication regarding specimens and collection information, and providing appropriate links to other laboratory sections when needed.

Key Roles & Responsibilities
1. Support Biorepository management
  • Assist Senior Officer for Biosafety and Laboratory maintenance and Biorepository officer in completing assigned tasks as specified
  • Assist in managing the inventory of specimens including tracking and documentation of sample information, storage locations, and availability for research projects using LIMS
  • Assist in developing and implementing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure the quality, integrity, and traceability of biological specimens
  • Assist in receiving consignments and shipments
  • Assist in preparing reports and presentations on biorepository activities, including sample utilization
  • Assist in supporting and responding to after-hour alarms and other critical functions
2. Support BSL2 laboratory management
  • Follow safety procedures
  • Manage supply inventory
  • Handle receipt of compounds and control material, depending on the functional area
  • Participate in continuing education through self-study and meeting attendance
Job Requirements and Qualifications
1. Education Requirements
  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry or relevant applied science is required
2. Related Field Work Experience
  • 0~2 years
3. Technical and Professional Skills / Knowledge
  • General knowledge of scientific principles and disciplines (design, operation, and maintenance of facilities preferred)
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office suite is a must
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Good problem-solving skills and ability to quickly become competent in an unfamiliar area of work
  • Excellent planning and organizing skills, ability to meet tight deadlines and to quickly adapt to changing priorities
  • Desire to work in a team-oriented environment
  • Hard working and good attitude
4. Language Proficiency
  • Proficient in English communication, both verbal and written
