Job SummaryJob DescriptionWhat is the opportunity?As a Portfolio Management Associate, you play a key role in the monitoring and evaluation of Corporate Client Group’s (CCG) credit portfolio, including Mid-Market Leverage & Infrastructure Finance (MMLIF) and Capital Partners portfolios.CCG targets loan origination in the Canadian mid-market, including large private or small public Canadian companies and Canadian subsidiaries of foreign multinationals. CCG is responsible for meeting annually established targets for loan derived revenues and returns and providing advice to our partners on optimizing the use of lending in connection with broader RBC relationship goals.What will you do?Support CCG’s watch list and triage process by liaising with CCG Finance and MMLIF personnel across the country and work closely with key partners (including CCG Credit Management, Asset Based Lending and Group Risk Management) to deliver a comprehensive document for watch list and triage meetingsAssist in the identification of deteriorating credit trends and escalate the information to senior managementCoordinate special industry reviews with CCG Credit Management and Group Risk Management and prepare peer comparisons for selected industries within CCGEnhance portfolio analytic capabilities while reducing the amount of processing time by automating reports across a number of key parameters, including industry, geography, credit exceptions and credit qualitySupport Relationship Managers to estimate transaction and relationship profitability. Subsequently help determine variances between actual and projected profitabilitySupport the profitability review of the loan portfolio and present to CCG’s executives relevant trends and insightsAssist with the compilation of various reports and presentations for senior CCG management. Notably, monitor CCG’s compliance with various portfolio limits and quality metricsAssist in setting and monitoring CCG’s growth plans including loan growth projections working closely with CCG’s National Operating Officer relative to key portfolio parameters, including credit quality and profitability while overseeing transfer process for clients transitioning from Commercial Financial Services or Capital Markets and monitor timely completion timelines with key partnersWhat do you need to succeed?Must-haveUndergraduate degree in Business, Economics, Accounting, or FinanceData management and presentation skills, including a proficiency with MS Excel, MS Access and MS PowerPoint, as well as ability using external data sources such as CapIQExcellent written and verbal communication skillsUnderstanding of credit products, principles and financial analysisAnalysis and reporting experienceStrong attention to detailsPositive attitude, an open mind and an interest in understanding new processes and conceptsNice-to-haveGraduate degree or professional designations (MBA, CPA, FRM or CFA)Work experience in accounting and reporting functionWork experience in corporate finance, commercial lending or corporate lendingKnowledge of RBC’s policies, procedures and systemsWhat’s in it for you?We thrive on the challenge to be our best, progressive thinking to keep growing, and working together to deliver trusted advice to help our clients thrive and communities prosper.
