Why Your Role Matters:
The role of the Associate Dean of Lifelong Learning (ADLL) at UNSW Canberra is crucial as it involves providing strategic leadership in the post-experience education market for the faculty. The ADLL collaborates with key stakeholders, including the Rector, UNSW Canberra’s Leadership Team, and UNSW’s Dean of Lifelong Learning, to develop and implement the faculty’s lifelong learning vision. This vision aligns with the University’s and faculty’s strategic goals, addressing the needs of various stakeholders such as Industry, Government, and Defence. The ADLL plays a pivotal role in responding to societal demands for upskilling and reskilling, as well as capitalizing on international opportunities.
Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership and Vision: Provide leadership and vision to ensure the faculty’s lifelong learning strategy is academically challenging, professionally relevant, and utilizes the best methodologies and technologies available.
- Alignment and Reform: Ensure alignment of lifelong learning strategy with broader faculty plans, especially in education. Drive and facilitate reforms in post-experience learning practices, building on UNSW Canberra’s strategic commitment to lifelong learning.
- Initiatives and Partnerships: Lead the development and implementation of initiatives, including microcredentials and short-form learning experiences. Manage educational partnerships with external stakeholders, integrating them into academic offerings and ensuring market competitiveness and growth..
Who You Are:
Our ideal candidate will have:
- Strategic Leadership and Vision: Proven track record of strategic leadership for academic excellence, demonstrating the ability to develop and implement strategies at the highest level in a complex environment.
- Education Initiatives and Lifelong Learning: Capacity and vision to provide strategic leadership in education initiatives, particularly in post-experience teaching and learning practices, while understanding the current issues and opportunities in Australian universities.
- External Representation and Online Education Expertise: Demonstrated effectiveness in representing the faculty externally through networking and partnership building. Possesses strong leadership, performance management, and business acumen. Deep understanding of online education, course delivery, and emerging companies/technologies in this space.
