Job SummaryJob DescriptionWhat is the opportunity?The Associate Director, Capital Markets Performance Management is a key member of the performance management team in Capital Markets Platform Finance that will include responsibility for strategic analysis, reporting, and performance management insights. This role will appeal to individuals who thrive in a fast-paced area that has significant visibility and a high profile across RBC (especially within Capital Markets), and who have an appetite for working in an innovative environment.What will you do?
- Oversee the production of accurate and complete Capital Markets Platform Performance Management deliverables, including daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly reporting & analyses for consumption by senior management, functional partners, and contribution to external reporting materials
- Manage the monthly and quarterly financial close process in coordination with stakeholders across various Wholesale and Enterprise Finance teams ensuring adherence to strong controls to deliver accurate, complete, and timely financial results
- Responsible for the development of insightful analysis and actionable information working directly and indirectly with business leaders, the CEO, COO and CFO of CM, CFO of RBC, and senior regional staff in the execution of forward-looking deliverables including strategic Line of Business enterprise reviews
- Provide business executives and senior management of Capital Markets with analysis and recommendations on business performance, through identification of issues and ongoing monitoring, as well as provide analysis of strategic initiatives
- Proactively develop, monitor, and message key performance metrics (financial and non-financial)
- Provide insightful and actionable analysis of Capital Markets results and work on complex presentations (in most cases based on financial modelling exercises) to support executive decision-making
- Consistently drive innovation to enhance processes to achieve greater efficiency and controls to elevate the value-added impact of financial and management reporting
- Be a key Finance contact for the Capital Markets platform ensuring reporting, analysis, and performance management requirements are meeting the needs of the Capital Markets CFO and the Capital Markets Operating Committee through timely, actionable, and insightful reporting
What do you need to succeed?Must-haves
- CPA, CFA, or Finance MBA
- 5+ years’ experience in fields related to finance performance management and strategic analysis
- Keen sense of numbers and strong analytical skills with ability to prioritize multiple tasks and handle time-sensitive executive level requests on a continuous basis
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence stakeholders and mobilize teams to deliver on common goals
- Superior organizational, analytical, and problem solving skills
- Ability to creatively and consistently exercise independent thought and judgment; and adapt to new tasks quickly
- Innovative, proactive, and persistent in issue resolution
- Very strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint Presentation skills, with data mining acumen to explore and employ novel approaches/tools/technologies to enhance the delivery of financial information
Nice to have
- Experience with Capital Markets products and businesses
- Solid understanding of bank structure, risk management concepts, financial markets, and instruments
- Knowledge using analytical tools and managing large datasets
