Job Summary As part of the Group Risk Management (GRM) team, the Associate Director, CNB Credit Modeling & Methodology will support the enhancement and monitoring of City National Bank’s (CNB) Wholesale and Retail credit risk profile, from a credit modeling and methodology perspective.
The ideal candidate will focus on the tactical solutions of data for analytics and modeling utilized by downstream partners across the organization. The Associate Director will assist the Director, Credit Modeling and Methodology in the execution and maintenance of tools and processes that support credit risk data analytics and risk performance monitoring, specifically credit loss estimation. You will assist Senior Management and the Board in understanding critical issues and risks related to credit risk at CNB aligned with best practices at RBC.

What is the opportunity?

What will you do?
- Participate in data assessment and tactical procurement for credit modeling data and analytics pipelines, help automate the underlying credit modeling dataset, assess, and address data gaps,
- Develop and maintain standards, issue resolution across data and controls framework to ensure there is a robust governance framework in place for the team,
- Manage in an iterative manner the creation and improvement upon credit risk monitoring and regulatory reporting processes,
- Work with Data Office for long term strategic solutions for enterprise-wide data sourcing,
- Participate in the exchange of knowledge related to credit models and reporting, data & analytical methodology and maintenance of internal data dictionary,
- Ensure compliance and privacy guidelines are strictly adhered to,
- Provide Governance expertise ensuring linkage across processes, controls and reporting produced to optimize accuracy, efficiencies and manage redundancies,
- Provide analytical support on Ad Hoc requests originating from stakeholders in 1LOD and 2LOD teams, and senior management.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Strong data manipulation capability with SQL and Python; expertise with MS Office Suite.
- Effective and equally conversant in translating technical expertise into business language that drive insights
- At least 2 years working experience with data analytics and related databases
Nice-to-have
- Degree in quantitative field of study (e.g. Statistics, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Computer Science) – to demonstrate capability for critical thinking and data analysis
- Demonstrated leadership in cross-functional environment
- Expertise in navigating an Enterprise Data Warehouse, Python, R or other tools
