Job Summary The Associate Director, Data Fabric Services orchestrates the efforts between DevOps and production services within RBC Capital Markets, discovering and delivering process efficiencies through analytics, process engineering and application/infrastructure support.

Job Description

As part of RBC’s Capital Markets technology group, The Data Fabric Services (DFS) team bridges the DevOps gap by delivering new technologies from the development teams to production services in a supportable manner. Focus of this role is on monitoring, automation, documentation and training to enable our partner teams to work more efficiently. The DFS team directly contributes to both the supportability of our shared system as well as reusability of technology and lessoning the learning curve of partner teams.

What will you be doing?

  • Proactively identify operational risks / control deficiencies in the technology stack
  • Match the right solutions from the development teams to front office problems
  • Oversight on practices and processes used in production environment are compliant with Audit requirements
  • Contribute to the discovery and review of the latest cutting-edge products and technologies, and planning roadmaps
  • Continual improvement and efficiency of production services by measuring incident ticket SLA’s, performing analytics on Incident volumes and coordinate with developer teams to adapt automation and better reporting
  • Implementing new services with an emphasis on production level process, monitoring, support, and reviewing all major releases

What do you need to succeed?

Must Haves:

  • University Degree in IT Management, Computer Engineering, or related fields such as Finance
  • Broad knowledge and working experience in Capital Markets and the technology that gives it life, ideally experience in application/infrastructure support, incident management and user support
  • Excellent knowledge of big data architecture, distributed systems and distributed data environments
  • Experience with application and infrastructure monitoring and support (Jira, ServiceNow), ability to seek opportunities to automate, streamline to ensure uptime and minimize business disruption
  • Strong sense of product ownership and responsibility, ability to develop metrics and enhance functionality of applications and measurable impact
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate and work with multiple stakeholders, external vendors and end-users, with a “client first” mentality

Nice to have:

  • Certifications in Cloud, ITSM,
  • Experience in data analytics and dashboarding ideal
  • Solid understanding of emerging technology as it shapes Capital Markets
  • Knowledge of contemporary programming and scripting languages, including middleware systems
