Job SummaryJob DescriptionWhat is the opportunity?Reporting to the Director, Financial and Regulatory Reporting, the opportunity is an Associate Director role within the Financial and Regulatory Reporting team primarily responsible for the financial reporting and regulatory reporting to a Regulatory Organization for certain legal entities within the Canadian Banking, Capital Markets and Wealth Management platforms.This role will work closely with the Front Office, Product Control and Operations business partners and other internal teams to analyze financial and regulatory data/impacts. This individual will be the subject matter expert on regulatory matters including regulatory capital usage, weekly capital reporting and policy amendments. This individual will supervise and manage regulatory reporting staff to complete the required monthly and annual reporting tasks and assist with the coordination and execution of internal and external audits for these legal entities.This individual will influence and drive change by assisting with special projects and transformation initiatives and add value through the identification of efficiency gains and evolving current processes.What you will do?
- Ensure timely submission of monthly regulatory financial reports to regulators (e.g. Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization (CIRO)) in accordance with various frameworks.
- Preparation of quarterly financial statements and variance analysis packages to be presented by the CFO to the Board of Directors.
- Responsible for aspects of the financial close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, and the monthly GL attestation process.
- Lead implementation of new regulatory/financial reporting requirements into existing processes and financial models to ensure compliance.
- Lead coordination efforts and management of external audits and regulatory examinations.
- Seek opportunities to redesign existing processes to be more automated and streamlined.
- Identify possible regulatory issues from new business initiatives and proposals.
- Maintain current on relevant rules that would impact regulatory reporting.
What you need to succeed?Must Have
- University degree in Finance/Accounting
- Finance/Accounting designation – CPA, CA preferred
- 5+ years’ experience in finance/accounting field, preferably in financial services or regulatory reporting
- Creative and analytical thinker who is self-driven and capable of working in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work effectively and reliably under pressure
- Excellent analytical thinking and acute attention to detail
- Strong organization and problem-solving skills
- Ability to multi-task and handle demands from multiple sources amidst tight deadlines
- Strong decision-making skills
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills: Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Excellent interpersonal and highly developed communication skills (verbal and written)
