Job Summary The Group Risk Management adjudication team provides independent assessment of business and financial risks for individual borrowers as
a 2nd Line of Defense in the Enterprise Risk Management Framework and Governance.The position involves the support of many functions such as effective monitoring and control on all material Credit risks across RBC’s
Commercial Lending Portfolio, as well as assessment of risks at a transactional level for each individual credit.
You will focus on maintaining the risk profile, alignment with the business, operational effectiveness, sharing best practices with business
partners and working towards high level of efficiency in management of assigned portfolios, and enhancing the client experience.Job DescriptionWhat is the opportunity?As part of the National Contractor adjudication team within Group Risk Management (GRM), the Associate Director will be primarily responsible for credit adjudication of Contractor transactions within the Bank’s commercial Financial Services Market.What will you do?
- Coach to, as well as directly adjudicate transactions in the context business strategy and portfolio objectives while adhering to stated risk policies, procedures, and processes.
- Deliver consistent decisions with solid communication of rationale for support, amendments or declines.
- Deliver decisions within stated turnaround times in order to assist the business exceed client expectations, achieve growth targets, and deliver on their trusted strategic advisor directives.
- Support the continuing development of strong credit risk skills within and between adjudication teams, as well as in the first line of defense. Ensure accurate and consistent processes/controls are in place and being followed to protect shareholder interests. Ensure credit transactions are adjudicated, for the most part, within Policy Guidelines, Standards, and Procedures and mitigate risks as necessary.
- Assist with the investment in RBC’s capabilities to better measure, understand and manage risk.
- Look for, and act upon, opportunities to strengthen the efficiency, accessibility and responsiveness of key risk processes and practices
- Ensure clients and colleagues are treated with respect, a highly professional empathetic approach is used, and good working relationships are maintained. Look for, and act upon, opportunities to strengthen the efficiency, accessibility and responsiveness of key risk processes and practices.
- Partner with stakeholders to achieve collective results. Act as a catalyst to ensure team is strategically aligned with business strategies while maintaining the Bank’s desired risk profile.
- Actively participate in the communication on risk and risk appetite within the adjudication team and throughout the enterprise to maintain RBC’s strong risk culture.
What do you need to succeed?Must-have:
- 5+ years of risk management experience and/or Commercial Account Management experience with a preferred focus on Contractors.
- Bilingual. Fluency in French is required.
- Strong communication, coaching, and conflict resolution skills.
- Undergraduate Degree in Business is required.
Nice-to-have:
- In-depth knowledge of RBC Risk Policies, procedures & practices, Folios etc.
- Proficiency with Bank Technology.
- Post graduate qualifications (CFA, CMA, MBA etc.)
