Job SummaryJob DescriptionWhat is the opportunity?This is a role within the Financial Resource Optimization (FRO) team. FRO’s ultimate objective is to be a dynamic and transparent internal marketplace for capital across the bank which enables capital to flow where it best deployed to achieve RBC’s key financial metrics.In this role, the incumbent will be responsible for assurance, oversight and challenge of RBC’s Basel Capital Adequacy Requirements (BCAR) reporting to OSFI, including Leverage and TLAC, Pillar 3 report and other regulatory capital disclosures and reports. This role will work closely with key stakeholders to ensure effective controls are in place to mitigate the risk of material misstatements.What you will do?

  • Design and execute processes to strengthen the control environment to identify and prevent potential issues and effectively mitigate the risk of material misstatements
  • Document and maintain inventory of key controls, regulatory capital policies, and process flow charts for regulatory capital reporting processes (BCAR, Pillar 3, Leverage, TLAC, RTS, etc.)
  • Develop data quality health checks to ensure the completeness and accuracy of data flowing into and out of the capital measurement system
  • Implement validation checks for regulatory capital disclosures (Pillar 3, RTS and Supplemental Package) against relevant reports to ensure consistency and accuracy across and within external disclosures
  • Perform a detailed reconciliation between the BCAR and the Balance Sheet, identify and analyze any unreconciled differences, and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to resolve the identified gaps
  • Facilitate the quarterly BCAR Attestation process and review attestations from controls owners to ensure no material exceptions were noted during the BCAR reporting process. Escalate any identified issues for prompt resolution
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to document and maintain data lineages for capital’s Critical Data Elements to ensure effective implementation of upstream controls
  • Act as the central contact for SOX Office, Operational Risk, Compliance, Chief Data Office, Internal Auditors and External Auditors during open audits and reviews. Work with key stakeholders to close out any open issues
  • Complete and deliver any ad-hoc requests and analytics
  • Assist in regulatory and financial reporting, as needed

What you need to succeed?Must have

  • Bachelor’s degree or greater (e.g. Business, Accounting, etc.)
  • Accounting designation such as CPA (CA) and/or CFA, FRM
  • 2 years+ progressive experience in a related field
  • Data mining and visualization skills (SAS, SQL, data cleaning and preparation)
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Strong team player and communication skills
  • Advanced skills in spreadsheet design and building presentations
  • Proven strong ability to work across business platforms
