Job SummaryJob DescriptionWhat is the opportunity?Reporting into a Director, you will support the Mid-Market Leveraged Finance (MMLF) team in realization of the Corporate Client Group’s (CCG) objectives through the structuring, delivery and account management of senior leveraged lending relationships principally to Private Equity (PE) owned/backed companies. MMLF is responsible for ensuring adequate legal, accounting, business, and financial due diligence is completed within RBC’s risk appetite to support the extension of leveraged loans, and ongoing monitoring, account management and realization of additional ancillary business for client and sponsor relationships. MMLF is mandated to support loan origination across Canada and within the majority of industries.What will you do?Part of a growing national team of MMLF Credit Underwriters committed to the delivery of quality credit solutions to Private Equity owned/backed operating companies.Support MD/Directors/V and CCG relationship bankers to structure, deliver and monitor syndicated and bi-lateral loan transactions under the direction of MD/Director MMLFDevelop an understanding of RBC credit appetite and the broad MMLF (and CCG) credit portfolioAssist in the preparation of materials for both internal and external purposes (e.g. credit submissions to Group Risk Management (GRM)and presentation materials to support new lending opportunities)Provide research, analysis, and data (market, industry, clients) to support Corporate Client Group (CCG) guidance and advice on the optimal loan structure required to meet objectives with each client relationship. Provide analysis and support on risk and return associated with loan transactions contemplated as part of client strategies and indicative transaction responses.Build financial models and sensitivity analysis including cash flow modelling.Interact and develop working relationships with other Associates within CCG and Capital Markets to facilitate deal execution by sharing key practices and transaction experience;Support CCG Relationship MDs and bankers in the preparation and presentation of marketing pitches to existing and potential clients under direction of MD/Director(s)/VP(s) MMLF;Under direction of MD/Director(s)/VP(s) MMLF follow up and engage with RBC partners and functions including GRM, Capital Markets, Personal and Commercial Banking, Wealth Management, and others;What do you need to succeed?Must-haveUndergraduate degree with a focus in Business, Finance, Economics or Mathematics2 – 5 years of work experience in a related field, including corporate lending / mid-market leverage lending and / or risk managementUnderstanding of finance and accounting with the ability to translate concepts to specific transactionsAbility to model financial sensitivity and scenario worksheetsStrong collaboration, written and oral communication, analytical and technical skillsProblem solving skills and comfort working with ambiguity and ability to synthesize various data points / analysis into a defensible position / conclusionAbility to prioritize and manage multiple workstreams with short deadlinesBilingualism (English and French) required, as you will regularly do business with partners across CanadaNice-to-haveUnderstanding and knowledge of RBC’s internal processesCPA, CFA or other relevant professional designation – ongoing or completedStrong computer literacy with emphasis on Excel and PowerPoint presentation skillsWhat’s in it for you?We thrive on the challenge to be our best, progressive thinking to keep growing, and working together to deliver trusted advice to help our clients thrive and communities prosper.
