About the organizationThe Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project (ACLED) is a disaggregated data collection, analysis, and crisis mapping project. The ACLED team conducts analysis to describe, explore, and test conflict scenarios, and makes both data and analysis open for free use by the public. ACLED material is regularly used to inform journalism, academic research, and public discourse on conflict, and to support the work of practitioners and policymakers. ACLED is the highest quality and most widely used real-time data and analysis source on political violence and protest around the world.The roleACLED is looking for an Associate Partnership Coordinator to lead in establishing relationships with potential new partners, improving relationships with existing partners, and negotiating and maintaining partner agreements. Partner agreements range from formal data-sharing arrangements to informal exchanges of contextual or technical knowledge. The ideal candidate would be someone with experience and ease in communicating and negotiating with external groups, especially those in the NGO, research, and government sectors. The ideal candidate must also be able to communicate effectively within the organization itself, providing support to other colleagues who engage with partners, coordinating training, and reporting on partner requests, changes, and other details to the appropriate department.This position is fully remote and can be done from any location with reliable internet service. The start date for this position is 1 July and it reports to the Head of Global Data Collection.This position is open to nationals of any country.For more information, please review the . Please submit your salary range for consideration.Specific roles and responsibilitiesThe Associate Partnership Coordinator will be responsible for the following:

  • Develop and improve ACLED strategies for engagement and negotiation with research partners, along with the Head of Global Data Collection
  • Act as the default point of contact for global and anonymous research partnerships
  • Lead the initial outreach process for local and global research partners, coordinating with relevant ACLED colleagues as needed to establish the appropriate point of contact to sustain the partnership
  • Coordinate the completion of assessments for new potential partners and follow through with approved partners in the signing of Memorandum of Understanding agreements
  • Lead on regular auditing of relationships and assessing the needs of a partnership, to develop proposals for new engagements or strategies to present to the Head of Global Data Collection
  • Serve as the main point of contact internally for questions around research partner-related procedures, and help guide colleagues engaged in partner activity through the various procedures
  • Coordinate data sharing between partners and the Global Data Collection team
  • Using Asana, coordinate trainings between research partners and trainers
  • Work with the External Affairs department to highlight partnerships on the website, on social media, and through our partnerships newsletter
  • Regularly coordinate with the Development and Engagement department to ensure that prospective partners are assigned to the correct department and point of contact
  • Support the wider Partnerships team with ad hoc tasks, as needed, including administrative tasks

Skills and competenciesACLED is seeking applicants who have the following skills and experience:

  • Strong relationship-building and collaboration skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Comfortable working in a start-up environment and within evolving systems and processes (dynamic and flexible)
  • Experience with external outreach, particularly with NGOs or comparable organizations/businesses is an asset
  • Ability to work remotely with limited supervision
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Good judgment and high attention to detail;
  • Experience with Salesforce (preferred);
  • Familiarity with communication platforms (Slack, Asana) (essential)
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace suites (essential)
  • Fluency in English (essential)
  • Fluency in other languages, particularly French, Spanish, and/or Arabic, is highly desired
