Job SummaryJob DescriptionWhat is the opportunity?
As a key member of the RBC Capital Markets Productivity & Efficiency (P&E) team, you will support our strategic efficiency efforts across businesses and functions. Our mandate is to enhance cost transparency to introduce new ways of identifying efficiencies to enable continuous investment in future growth. We’re seeking a highly skilled member to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be someone who excels at working independently while also possessing the ability to collaborate effectively with the team as needed. This role demands an individual with strong critical thinking skills and a capacity for independent decision making.This role will cut across the Productivity & Efficiency and Business Management mandates. Please note that this is not a Finance role.What will you do?Part of a center of expertise, you will support the execution of engagements that help Capital Markets’ senior executives understand the true costs of running their business, develop plans and enable execution of productivity & efficiency initiatives. You will do this independently but sometimes as part of a team.

  • Support deep-dive business reviews (leveraging Zero Based Budgeting frameworks), and provide support on overall direction to advise the business on key efficiency-related findings.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of industry trends and apply knowledge of Capital Markets and Zero Based Budgeting to support the team to make decisions
  • Understand linkages between, and help cultivate P&E mindset, into plans, forecast, business strategy documents, PARs, business cases.
  • Provide analysis of work completed and the outcomes effectively to executive audiences, using proper business, financial and functional language.
  • Support other team members to manage workstreams and present deliverables within agreed-upon quality and timelines.
  • Identify risks/issues and raise these risk to appropriate team members to minimize their impact on work stream timelines
  • Develop understanding of ongoing productivity & efficiency initiatives that impact Capital Markets; promote culture of transparency around them, review benefit profiles ensuring initiatives are mobilizing and engage in monthly dashboard socialization/review.

What you need to succeed?Must-haves

  • Above all else, the ability to demonstrate highly advanced proficiency / mastery in Excel and PowerPoint, with a particular emphasis on storyboarding with the ability to create strong presentations.
  • Comfort in fast-paced environments with high complexity and ambiguity – dealing often with deadlines in hours rather than days.
  • Strategy or consulting experience in a Consulting Management, Financial Services, or Entrepreneurial environment, or other comparative experience
  • 2 – 3 years’ experience in large transformational initiatives/programs focused on cost efficiency, productivity and continuous improvement
  • A proven track record of working on complex projects, utilizing key program management skills.
  • Quantitative Analysis Experience (data analysis, financial/data modeling)
  • Critical Thinking (proven capabilities to use careful evaluation and judgement)
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, with a meticulous attention to detail
  • Change Management mindset, with a passion for challenging the status quo in a collaborative manner.
  • Growth mindset, resting on a relentless appetite to learn, be challenged and develop new skills.
  • High degree of organization and multi-tasking ability
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently, prioritize and get things done.

Nice-to-have

  • Post-graduate degree – Masters in finance, economics, accounting or a similar field
  • Masters in Finance, CPA, CFA, CMA or CA
  • Understanding of and experience with zero based budgeting / cost efficiency
  • Experience in Financial Management, Analysis and Planning, with strong Financial acumen and the ability to analyze and work with key business drivers (NIE, NIBT, RoE, etc.)
  • Experience in the RBC PAR process and annual business planning.
