Description: The Complex Infrastructure Systems (CIS) Lab in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Princeton University has an immediate opening for an Associate Professional Specialist position. The CIS Lab, led by Professor Juergen Hackl, delivers transformative new science and sophisticated computational and mathematical approaches required to turn data on complex infrastructure systems into actionable insights. This is explored using mixed methods research, including operational research, computational research, network science, dynamic systems, spatial statistics, scalable data analytics, and machine learning. This position would be specifically to support the development of an ongoing project related to the implementation of a Digital Twin modeling framework for intelligent intersection management. In addition, this position would involve coordination and outreach activities related to industry partners. Requirements include: MS in science, technology, and environmental policy, or related field; experience working with infrastructure datasets across multiple sectors; experience with machine learning (including Deep Reinforcement Learning, Convolutional Neural Networks, Graph Neural Networks); experience with probabilistic (network) models (including Markov Chains, Hidden Markov Models); experience working in large interdisciplinary cross-university teams; experience interfacing with local industry partners would be beneficial.
