Job SummaryJob DescriptionWhat is the Opportunity?The Associate, Strategic Initiatives will be a strategic partner to the COO Office, and the US Investment Management Broker-Dealer (IMBD) Compliance Operating Committee members to execute Global Capital Markets and IMBD Compliance’s strategic initiatives aligning these efforts with the overall vision and goals of the Global Compliance Department.We are seeking a highly motivated, self-directed, and results oriented person to fill the role. This critical position will work closely with the leadership team, playing a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient operations, strategic planning, development, and growth of the organization. The role will be responsible for a wide range of functions including but not limited to strategic initiatives across business segments. The ability to prioritize and multi-task is critical for success in this role.This is a hybrid role. Must be available to work in the 155 Wellington St (Toronto) office 3+ days per week.What will you do?

  • Work closely with the Compliance teams and stakeholders from other teams to execute strategic initiatives, aligning the results-focused efforts to achieve overall vision and goals of the Global Compliance Department.
  • Engage in financial forecasting, modeling, and business development, including strategic planning and budgeting.
  • Prepare senior management meeting materials such as Executive Committee meetings and materials for presentations to various business lines.
  • Support key business initiatives such as budgeting, invoicing, and FTE management by tracking data/progress and ensuring timely completion.
  • Conduct research, perform quantitative and/or technical analyses, and provide data-driven recommendations to support decision-making processes.
  • Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to business initiatives.
  • Facilitate business operations, by effectively partnering with functional resources including Marketing, Communications, Human Resources, Information Technology, and Corporate Real Estate, etc.
  • Foster effective communication and collaboration among different departments and teams within the organization to drive efficiency and productivity.

What do you need to succeed?Must-have

  • Ideally MBA from a reputed institution, but a Bachelor’s degree in Business or Finance with an emphasis in Strategy is acceptable for strong candidates
  • 3+ years of experience in a financial institution, management consulting firm or in another regulated industry with a track record of handling analytical work and managing complex projects and initiatives
  • Proven skillset in conceptual and analytical problem solving as well as working in ambiguous situations and across different lines of business
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop strong relationships at every level of the organization
  • Excellent written and oral presentation skills and presence; strong technical ability with PowerPoint, Excel and Word (case study may be required)

Nice-to-have

  • Professional designations such as CFA, PMP, or equivalent
  • Proficiency in Visio, SharePoint, JIRA, and Confluence.
