This position is located in the UN Video Section, in the News Content Branch, in the News and Media Division, of the Department of Global Communications (DGC). The UN Video Section produces video content highlighting a wide range of priority themes and issues on the United Nations agenda, including climate change, the Sustainable Development Goals, human rights and gender equality.Responsibilities1. Co-ordinating TV/video coverage and distribution on matters related to peacekeeping and other issues and priorities by: (a) Producing, editing and distributing peacekeeping videos products through liaison with producers in field offices; (b) Proposing TV/video stories about peacekeeping with the managing editor of UNifeed; (c) Researching, producing, shooting, writing scripts as well as metadata and editing and distributing unified video products from UN Headquarters and the field, including Peacekeeping Missions; 2. Initiating and executing video production about peacekeeping by: (a) Conducting research on video coverage/products around key UN Peacekeeping themes and campaigns; editing scripts and repurposing video packages from contributors across the system; (b) Liaising with audio-visual staff in peacekeeping missions and gathering video from the field; (c) Producing monthly metrics reports about the media reach of stories of the UN’s Peacekeeping work; (d) Writing and editing scripts and story synopses; (e) Assisting video producers with broadcast, web and social media productions on various issues and priorities for the UN; (f) Supporting the video section in motion graphics and other animated visual elements to enhance video storytelling in UN products; (g) Executing any other tasks requested by the supervisors. 3. Maintaining accurate data on peacekeeping-related video material and facilitates access to such material as needed. 4. Provides guidance to, and may supervise, more junior staff and serve as Officer-in-Charge, in the absence of the UNifeed Chief of Unit.CompetenciesProfessionalism: Knowledge of the UN and its specialized agencies. Experience in re-purposing/re-versioning TV content for broadcast and digital platforms is desirable.LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English is required.
