Joining our Audit Service Line means becoming part of a dedicated team of around 1,400 professionals committed to quality, technical excellence, and daily value addition to our clients. Our auditors play a crucial role in supporting the public interest, building sustainable businesses, and contributing to the benefit of society as a whole.

As an Audit Graduate Trainee, you will work with various audited entities, gaining a strong understanding of their business, preparing professional audit documents, and developing expertise in financial statements. The role involves collaboration within highly engaged teams, delivering high-quality audits in line with expectations and deadlines.

Your journey over the three-year training contract is structured as follows:

First Year:

  • Work with various audited entities, building a strong understanding of their business.
  • Learn to prepare professional audit documents in line with our audit methodology.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of financial statements.
  • Obtain relevant information from key stakeholders while building effective relationships.

Second Year:

  • Build and develop audit skills in increasingly complex and technical areas.
  • Take ownership of sections allocated in an audit file.
  • Self-review your work, ensuring minimal review points are raised by managers.
  • Coach and support less experienced team members.

Final Year:

  • Take on significantly more responsibility, potentially leading a technical area or a team.
  • Ensure the entire audit file is completed, managing deadlines, team members, budgets, and presenting in both team and audited entities meetings.

Possible Audit areas

IT External Audit :

If you join our IT External Audit function, you will form part of an innovative, dynamic, and expanding national team. We work with both UK businesses and Global companies – it’s a fantastic way to understand the important aspects of business and markets. In this team you will gain experience across a variety of sectors, such as:

  • Financial Services, Banking, Insurance, and Investment
  • Corporates/Private Sector/Industry & Services
  • Retail and Consumer products organisations
  • Central and Local Government

Public Sector:

We offer a world-class audit experience with deep, specialist knowledge of the Public sector. If you join Public Sector Audit, you will be part of a brilliant team that provides distinctive audit and advisory services, and works with:

  • Central government bodies;
  • Local government bodies including Councils, police and fire bodies; and
  • NHS Trusts and Integrated Commissioning Boards.

Privately-Owned Business:

We passionately support privately owned businesses in achieving their goals. In the UK, we work with over 13,000, family-owned, private equity backed and privately owned businesses. If you join Privately-Owned Business, you will be part of a dynamic team whose client base covers the full range of businesses from entrepreneurial startups to multi hundred million pound turnover international groups.

Social Sector:

If you join Social Sector Audit, you will be part of a brilliant team that provides distinctive audit and advisory services, and works with:

  • Educational Institutions, such as Universities, Colleges and large multi-academy trusts;
  • Housing Associations
  • Charities

Requirements:

On track to receive or have obtained a 2.2 or above in a relevant degree

  • Strong work ethic and a desire to learn and progress.

  • Analytical skills to assimilate information, grasp concepts quickly, and solve problems.
  • Independence, critical thinking, and professional skepticism.
