An opportunity has arisen to join the REACH team as a Non-Medical Prescriber; supporting people who use drugs and alcohol to stabilise, work towards recovery and build positive and fulfilling futures for themselves.As a prescriber you will work with an allocated cohort of service users from a specific area of Dorset (various options available) and be part of an integrated team of drug and alcohol professionals. Clinical leadership is provided by an AWP Consultant Addictions Psychiatrist.We are looking for a skilled Non-medical prescriber with experience of working within a drug and alcohol treatment setting and a passion for supporting people towards the best possible outcomes. Please contact the recruiting manager for more information.Main duties of the jobTo undertake clinical assessments of service users referred to the team, both urgent and routine, including specialist assessments of clients requiring non-medical prescribing, ensuring that a full health and social needs assessment, including medical history and medication history, is undertaken and implemented where required.To establish diagnosis and prescribe accordingly, discussing all treatment options (including non-pharmacological treatment) and potential side-effects with each service user.To establish, plan and implement Clinical Management Plans (CMPs) where appropriate and review at least annuallyTo establish and maintain good liaison with GP practices and other mental health services in the area, including sharing prescribing information and rationale.To maintain comprehensive case records in line with Trust requirements, including recording medications prescribed.About usWe are AWP (Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust) a diverse organisation with over 5,000 dedicated staff providing inpatient and community-based mental health care.   • Has a good understanding of the clinical needs of drug & alcohol users and how this translates in to safe and effective prescribing
  • Demonstrates the ability to work in partnership
  • 3 years post qualifying experience in Mental Health
  • Expert clinical assessment skills
  • At least 6 months experience working as a Supplementary Nurse Prescriber.
