Our vision is to build healthier lives in the communities we serve and to deliver excellent patient care.As our Head of People, you will be a senior leader within QEH, contributing to the Hospital’s strategic aims and reporting directly to the Hospital Executive Director. You will lead our site People Team, in delivering an excellent Employee Relations service and drive human resources initiatives, whilst ensuring the highest standards of employee engagement, development, and well-being.We are open to individuals who are ideally looking to join us on a secondment basis, which could lead to a permanent position.Main duties of the jobPlease note for a specific detailed job description for this vacancy please see attached job description.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES1. Leadership

  • Lead the effective development of leadership and people management capability across the Hospital, so that staff are recruited, inducted, cared for, appropriately

managed, effectively deployed, retained, developed professionally and their concerns elicited and resolved in a timely and effective manner.

  • Responsible for the inspiration, motivation and performance management of teams within the remit of the role.
  • Develop the Employee Relations work streams to be effective, organised, integrated and managed to fully support the strategic aims of the People Directorate.
  • Promote a culture which promotes a just and learning culture and ensures that decision-making is allocated to appropriate levels, allowing staff to make a valuable

contribution based on their development needs and career aspirations.

  • Take a solutions-focused perspective to challenges to drive forward positive change, as well as resource needs.

  • * Evidence of further personal / academic development to Masters level or equivalent
  • * Membership of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development or equivalent
  • * Management qualification or evidence of practical application of expertise at this level
  • * Evidence of continuing professional development

ExperienceEssential

  • * Proven track record of successful operational leadership of HR and direct management and development of professional staff in an acute NHS provider or equivalent large complex organisation
  • * Significant experience in complex case management, including preparations and attendance at employment tribunals
  • * Experience in the successful leadership, development and implementation of role-specific strategies, policies and performance management systems that deliver high
  • quality services and outcomes
  • * Evidence of employment relations expertise and working strategically and in partnership with Trade Unions / Staff side representatives.
  • * Experience in setting and achieving objectives/ KPI’s
  • * Experience in writing reports and presenting information in a timely manner to a range of staff at all levels including Directors/ Executive Directors
  • * Can demonstrate expert understanding of employment legislation, case law and best practice.
  • * Knowledge and understanding of a full range of HR and HR policy issues and best practice.
  • * Highly specialised working knowledge and understanding of HR operational issues in a large complex work environment.
  • * Excellent knowledge of equality, diversity and inclusion and how this impacts on workforce
