Ashford and St Peter’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is every bit as special as the babies we care for.We are the Lead level 3 NICU for Surrey and part of the Surrey, Sussex and Kent Network, providing expert care for 28 of the sickest and most complex babies using the most up to date ventilatory support techniques such as Vapotherm in the delivery room, Cooling Therapy and Nitric Oxide.We have an 8 bedded Transitional Care Unit (TCU) where Mothers can remain with their babies up until discharge. Our focus is on Family Integrated Care throughout the babies’ journey and we hostthe Surrey arm of the Neonatal Transport Service.We are looking to recruit Band 6 nurses who are ready to work in an innovative environment where every team member makes a difference.As a nurse at St Peters, you will be a role model to all your team members and your experience at any level will be valued.As a Band 6 neonatal nurse you will be supported through your career journey to develop the skills and confidence to deputise and manage the unit in the absence of the Band 7 Sisters, you will also be a regular mentor to Band 5 nurses doing the Intensive Care Course.Main duties of the jobThe post holder willo Promote and help to manage delivery of a quality nursing service,setting and monitoring clinical standards in NICU and TransitionalCare.o To be responsible for the assessment of patient care needs, thedevelopment, implementation and evaluation of programmes ofcare.o To work as a Shift Leader and Deputise for the Ward Sister/ChargeNurse after completion of unit specific competencies and shadowcharging. This is based on working shifts rotating from night andday covering a 7 day week, in accordance with the nursingphilosophy of Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Trust.o To take responsibility for an area of clinical practice appropriate tothe ward environment.
