The position provides leadership and guidance while ensuring the accurate and timely accounting and reporting for all financial transactions processed through the major chartered banks.Primary AccountabilitiesThe Capital Markets Administration and Compliance (CMAC) division is responsible for the accounting, debt servicing, trade settlement, reporting, and custody of government’s market debt and investments while monitoring compliance with legislation and policies. The division provides professional advice, recommendations, and coordination of policies and guidelines related to debt management activities. In addition, the division reconciles government bank accounts, monitors and reports on government’s internal financial controls, manages governance specific software solutions, and corporate compliance programs.Reporting to the Director, CMAC, the Bank Reconciliation Supervisor manages the overall operations of the Bank Reconciliation team including providing accurate and timely accounting, reporting and support for all financial transactions of the province processed through the major chartered banks. The Supervisor provides leadership, administrative functions, accounting advice, and guidance related to system problems, banking policies, and reconciliation concerns. The position develops and maintains procedures, prepares audit requirements, and acts as the subject matter expert for enhancements and upgrades for new and existing systems/platforms. In addition, the Supervisor builds and maintains strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholdersQualifications and ExperienceThe successful candidate must possess three (3) years post-secondary professional accounting training and five (5) years of related experience (or an acceptable equivalent). A post-secondary degree in accounting or finance (BBA/BComm) would be an asset.As the ideal candidate you have experience with banking services, financial accounting and reporting, reconciliations, and audits. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently and lead a team is essential. Experience supervising a team would be considered an asset.Candidates need to possess strong planning, organizational and administrative skills along with initiative in exercising these skills to set priorities, meet deadlines and manage multiple assignments delivered by the team. A demonstrated high attention to detail as well as a working knowledge of GAAP and SAP is required. Sound judgement and problem-solving skills are required to allow for accurate interpretation of information to make effective decisions daily.
