Behaviour Support Assistant needed in Oldham.Are you a passionate about supporting teenagers from vulnerable backgrounds?Are you able to deal with challenging situations and behaviours?Do you want to learn new skills while working in a supportive and inclusive environment and taking the next step forward in your career?Tradewind Recruitment is currently looking for enthusiastic and committed people available to work as a behaviour support assistant in an SEMH school in Oldham.This is a temporary full-time long-term supply role from September 2024 to December 2024 in the first instance.The RoleBehaviour Support AssistantFive days a week 8.30am to 3.30pmProviding support on a one-to-one basis or in small groupsAssisting students with literacy, numeracy, and general subject knowledgeSupporting individuals with social, emotional, and behavioural difficultiesAssisting those with mental health needs and anxietyProvide holistic support based around social, emotional, behavioural, physical, mental & academic progress.Collaborating with the SEN team, senior leaders, heads of departments, parents and carers, social workers, and other professionals in the child’s multidisciplinary team.The SchoolSpecial School catering for young people aged 11-16 that struggle within mainstream settings and have an EHCP for Social, Emotional or Mental Health needs (SEMH).The school specialises in catering for children who may face challenges related to social, emotional or mental health difficulties and vulnerable backgrounds.Part of a multi academy trust for special education provision.Ofsted 2023 “There is a calm, purposeful atmosphere for pupils to engage in learning”Located in central Oldham – easily accessible on public transport links.The BenefitsFull time temporary roleEmotionally rewarding work – making a difference to the lives in children and young people with additional needs.Training availableCompetitive pay ratesMay become permanentTo join us and be successful in this Behaviour Support Assistant role, you will need to:

  • a minimum of six week’s experience of working with children in the last 3 years supported by references
  • This position is subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and professional references checks
  • Provide a CV with a full employment/education history included and any employment breaks must be explained
  • Have the legal right to work full time in the UK
