This role is crucial in helping students overcome barriers to learning by providing tailored support and promoting positive behaviour. Your role will be instrumental in ensuring a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment where every student can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.As a Behaviour Support Worker, you will work closely with students, teachers, and the wider school community to support children and young people who display challenging behaviour. Your responsibilities will include implementing behaviour strategies, providing one-to-one and small group support, and encouraging positive behaviour in and outside the classroom. This role is perfect for individuals passionate about making a real difference in students’ lives by helping them achieve their full potential.Responsibilities of Behaviour Support Worker:

  • Build strong, positive relationships with students to promote trust and engagement.
  • Support students in managing challenging behaviour through positive reinforcement and de-escalation strategies.
  • Work one-to-one or in small groups to provide personalised support tailored to individual needs.
  • Assist the class teacher in managing classroom behaviour and ensuring a focused learning environment.
  • Monitor and record students’ progress and behaviour, sharing insights with staff and parents as required.
  • Encourage emotional resilience and social skills development in students.
  • Implement school behaviour policies and strategies effectively and consistently.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff and external agencies to create support plans for students.
  • Supervise students during non-classroom activities, such as lunchtime or school trips.

Behaviour Support Worker Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with behavioural challenges as a Behaviour Support Worker is essential.
  • Knowledge of behaviour management strategies and techniques.
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting students.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A Level 2 or 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning, Childcare, or equivalent is advantageous.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle challenging situations effectively.
