Join the Accounting Operations Team, in the Team Leader, Accounts Receivable and Cash Management position. In this role, you will be leading and managing a team of 8-10 direct reports that oversees invoicing, cash receipts applications, credit and collections, account reconciliations and reporting of accounts receivable and banking transactions.What you’ll do:
- Supervise and monitor day-to-day revenue processing activities performed by team related to invoicing, deposits/receipts, cash application, bank transactions, and accounts receivable reconciliations. Take proactive actions to address arising issues and implement solutions.
- Maintain accurate and complete accounting records and reconciliations as well as related statements and reports. Ensure adherence to current accounting standards as well as proper implementation of new accounting standards.
- Support compliance with the external audit, including the timely provision of reports, explanations, data, and related information, as required by the external auditors.
- Lead process improvement initiatives, identifying, analyzing, capturing, and reviewing the operational processes to ensure effective and efficient handling of financial transactions that meet Service Level Agreements (SLA).
- Track and report trends related to CMHC revenue, contributing to forecasts, and reporting while applying an understanding of business performance measures to contribute to the production and delivery of reports containing in-depth analysis. Provide meaningful insight into the underlying drivers of performance using operational and strategic metrics, key expense performance indicators, benchmark comparisons and other variables.
- Perform, document, and guide ad hoc financial analysis for areas that have been prioritized by management. Distill and formulate thoughtful and supported financial recommendations based on the results of proactive financial analysis, identified areas of risk exposure, and available opportunities for improvement; ensure the recommendations align with enterprise-wide objectives and initiatives.
- Establish and maintain effective business relationships with clients, leaders, and other relevant internal and external stakeholders (e.g., financial institutions, third-party banking institution) to gain a thorough understanding of the operations and environment, to facilitate collaboration in accomplishing finance tasks, and to influence complex business decisions. Support internal client groups providing guidance, advice, and recommendations in the development of accounting policies, procedures, and processes.
- Coach and guide the team to find solutions to address identified gaps. Set objectives and establish clear expectations for successful performance by providing ongoing feedback/coaching while fostering innovation, continuous improvement, and accountability for results. Coordinate and prioritize work activities to contribute to employee engagement, organizational objectives, and results.
What You Should Have:
- An undergraduate degree in a related field such as administration, business, finance
- A minimum of five (5) years of prior relevant experience with a minimum of two (2) years of supervisory/ project leadership experience as well as a demonstrated ability to lead teams, including the ability to provide coaching and feedback
- A sound understanding of financial statements and general accounting principles as well as an extensive knowledge of cash and bank management practices
- Excellent organizational skill and a strong ability to prioritize requests and work in a high stress environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent ability to gather and analyze information, synthesize key elements, and summarize recommendations.
- An expert knowledge of financial management systems (Microsoft D365FO) and strong computer skills.
- Demonstrated experience streamlining processes and implementing ongoing efficiencies to meet business needs.
- Strong interpersonal (tact, diplomacy, judgment), oral, and written communication and client service skills, including the ability to speak and write clearly and succinctly in a variety of settings and styles to a variety of stakeholders as well as a demonstrated ability to persuade, influence and/or negotiate with others on a regular basis.
It would be great if you also had:
- An MBA
- A professional accounting designation (CPA)
- Experience working with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Financial Operations (ERP Software)
- A Lean Six Sigma certification
