We are searching for a Bookkeeper to join our Finance team.The day-to-day activities of a Bookkeeper will include:
- Reconcile bank and credit card statements to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
- Process invoices, expense reports, and payments while ensuring adherence to company policies and vendor terms.
- Communicate with vendors and customers regarding account inquiries, payments, and discrepancies.
- Manage accounts receivable by generating invoices, tracking incoming payments and follow up on overdue accounts
- Maintain and update accounting records, including general ledger entries, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries and financial reconciliations.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings, specifically GST filings
- Support the Controller in preparing for audits, providing necessary documentation, and assisting with compliance reviews.
- Maintain accurate digital filing systems for financial records and support documents.
- Assist with special projects and financial analysis as required by the Controller.
- Prepare and process payroll, ensuring accuracy in deductions and compliance with tax regulations.
The right candidate will demonstrate the following qualifications on their resume:
- Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar accounting role.
- Proficiency in bookkeeping & expense software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, DEXT) and Microsoft Excel, exposure to Google sheets consider an asset
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and best practices.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Additional qualifications that would be considered strong assets include:
- Familiarity with payroll systems and tax filings is a plus.
- 2+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience.
- Familiarity with a MacBook (OS) environment
