Typical work assignments will include:

  • Planning, formulating, justifying, implementing, and administering budget and financial management activities.
  • Providing positive recommendations and alternative approaches to improve program plans, budget proposals, costs of operations, and program accomplishments.
  • Preparing Operating Plan district budget estimates.
  • Preparing budget justifications for recommended allocation levels, particularly deviations from initial office submissions.
  • Planning work to be accomplished and setting priorities in financial management.
  • Assigning work to others based on difficulty of assignments and staff capabilities.
  • Reviewing work completed by others to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Providing technical advice and assistance to resolve problems referred by staff.

RequirementsConditions of Employment

  • You must be a U.S. Citizen or National
  • Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation

  • If selected, you may be required to complete a one year probationary period.
  • You must meet all qualification requirements upon the closing date of this announcement.

QualificationsTo be eligible at the GS-13 level, you must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level explained below:Specialized Experience for this grade is defined as: independently formulating, presenting, and executing short and long-range budgets; monitoring obligations, appropriating funds, and validating expenses; developing internal budget policies and procedures; preparing budget estimates and projections; analyzing legislation and developing justification narratives; reviewing work completed by others to ensure accuracy and efficiency; and serving as a budget advisor, explaining budget policies, and giving briefings to higher management.Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.
